Estoril Golf is a Par 69 championship course measuring 5313m, and has frequently hosted the Portuguese Open. It is located in Cascais, 5 minutes from Hotel Palacio Estoril, and it boasts some wonderful views of Estoril and the Atlantic Ocean. This course demands accuracy, as it is set among wonderful eucalyptus, pine and mimosa trees, so the fairways can be tight. The signature hole is the Par 3 16th, which measures 184m and requires a very precise tee shot. This is a challenging course but if you get your strategy right, this should be an enjoyable round.
Quinta da Marinha is a Par 71 measuring 5870m, it is located in Cascais. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior, this course boasts stunning scenery of the Sintra Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. The signature hole is the Par 4 13th, where the fairway slopes down towards the sea, and then once on the green you are rewarded with panoramic views. The course features several bunkers and lakes, pine woods and gently undulating fairways. To add to the difficulty there are five Par 5s and the 10th green is completely surrounded by water. This course provides a tough but enjoyable round of golf.
Oitavos Dunes is a Par 71 championship course measuring 6303m. It is located in the Sintra-Cascais National Park, 20 minutes west of Lisbon. The course is mix of woodland and links. The first four holes feature narrow, tree-lined fairways and tricky small greens. The next twelve holes open up and have a more links feel, they also enjoys the wonderful views of the Atlantic Ocean. The final two holes go back to the woodland style. The signature hole is the Par 3 14th, this superb hole usually plays longer than the distance implies, and a good tee shot is required over a ravine, that then runs downs the whole of the right hand side. This superb course can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels.
Quinta Do Peru is a Par 72 course measuring 5645m. It is located near to the picturesque village of Azeitão, 20 minutes south of Lisbon. This beautiful course is set in a pine forest and is built into the natural undulating terrain. It is often said that the difficulty of the front nine is only beaten by the back nine, especially the Par 3 17th, where a good tee shot over the lake is the only option to get on the green. This course is a serious test of golf with its huge bunkers and water hazards, but you will also to get to enjoy the wonderful views of the Arrabida Mountains and the abundance of wild flowers in the area.
