The Atalaya New Course is a Par 71 measuring 5142m, it is a genuine test even for experienced golfers. It is considerably more challenging than the Old Course, with narrow undulating fairways and large fast greens. The round starts off fairly flat, but then winds its way up into more hilly terrain, before going down to the lower level again.
The course offers spectacular views of the Mediterranean and Gibraltar and with several of the fairways lined with wildflowers this truly is a beautiful course.
San Pedro is the original nine hole course at La Quinta and forms part of the toughest course make-up. It is an open course with wide fairways, but finding the correct position off the tee is crucial. The Ronda, named after a beautiful local village is a great nine hole course with narrow undulating fairways and very fast difficult greens. With many blind shots to be negotiated, this is a test of precision and accuracy. The most demanding hole is the long 6th, with requires three good strikes to find the green. The Guadaiza is the newest nine hole course at La Quinta. Set against the backdrop of the awe-inspiring Sierra Blanca mountain range, it enjoys many changes of levels and numerous dog legs that make it just as exciting as the other two courses. It is the longest of the three loops and demands long, accurate drives.
Los Naranjos is a Par 72 measuring 6457m, it is located between Marbella and Estepona on the Costa del Sol, and right in the heart of Europe’s Golf Valley of Marbella. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr. and it makes use of the surrounding orange groves. The front 9 is wide and open and the back nine are much tighter, winding through the orange trees.
The majority of the large, undulating greens are well protected by bunkers and with many water hazards this long course is quite a challenge. Los Naranjos was awarded ‘Course of the Year’ on the Costa del Sol in 2005 and again in 2008.
The Atalaya Old Course is a Championship Par 72 measuring 6146m, designed byBernard Von Limburger. This tree lined parkland course enjoys wide fairways, fast elevated greens, several water hazards and spectacular views across La Concha mountain.
With its versatile tees this is an enjoyable and achievable round for all handicaps. You certainly won’t be disappointed when you play a round on the Atalaya Old Course as part of you golf holiday to Spain.
El Paraiso is a Par 71 championship course measuring 5912m, it is located in a valley between the Mediterranean Sea and the foothills of the Sierra Bermaja Mountains. Designed by Gary Player the course features lush fairways lined with palms, jacaranda and oleander, and many lakes and streams.
The signature hole is the Par 5 6th, which has a dogleg, water to the right of the fairway and finishes with a two tiered green. Both the 9th and the 18th provide stern tests if you want to finish with a par.
