Settled near the slopes of the Silvermine Mountains and only 20 minutes from the city centre of cape Town lies one of Cape Town’s Premier Courses – Westlake. A par 72 – 18 hole course that is flat and easy to walk. The course opened in 1932 and providing you can hit the ball straight and keep it out of the trees you should be able to put together a good score. Fantastic views of the mountains throughout the 18 holes makes this a must play for golfers in the Cape Town area.
De Zalze Golf Course is another must play and you should allow time after the round to take in a little wine tasting because the course is set an a 300 hectare Wineland Estate.
This is a tight course that will require you to plan your way around it avoiding the many water hazards. The spectacular clubhouse offers breath taking views and superb breakfasts and lunches.
Erinvale golf course was designed by Gary Player and it blessed with majestic mountain backdrops with spectacular views of the surrounding hillsides that are planted with vine. From the higher parts of the course there are some dramatic ocean views. The course has hosted both the World Cup Golf and the SAA Open which tells you the quality of the course.
We recommend carts for this course because there are some undulating hills especially on the back nine.
A Jack Nicklaus designed Signature Golf Course and in his own words “Surrounded by mountains this is one of the most spectacular settings in which I have designed a golf course” . The Pearl Valley Golf Estate is surrounded by the Simonsberg and Drakenstein Mountains and bordered by vineyards with The Berg River water hazard running through it! This is a “must play” golf course just 50 minutes from Cape Town. Try avoiding the large bunkers as they can be tricky and avoid coming up short of the greens. It is a great test of golf, but she is for the taking if you play sensibly.
