Montagu is a Par 72 course measuring 6304m. This parkland course is set in a spectacular setting, surrounded by water and mountains. Its beauty is further enhanced by flower beds, mature trees, shrubs and water hazards that are all a sharp contrast to the landscape. It enjoys wide fairways and extremely fast greens.
The signature hole is the Par 3 17th, where similar to the 12th at Augusta, the green can only be reached by clearing a vast expanse of water. This is a truly wonderful golfing experience, definitely not to be forgotten.
Outeniqua is a Par 72 course measuring 6320m. This parkland course enjoys stunning views of the mountains and offers a challenge to all golfers. The Outeniqua is regarded as the easier of the two parkland courses with its open appearance, but the short Par 4s offer many risk-and-reward chances.
Water hazards come into play on 11 of the holes, but all the courses at Fancourt offer a variety of tees to play from, so golfers won’t feel too daunted.
Another Jack Nicklaus designed golf course where Jack has had the opportunity of taking Mother Nature’s best piece of links land and signed his name to something unique. St Francis Links will challenge all who play it and reward those who respect it. As with many Jack Nicklaus golf courses it is the bunkering that truly defines the quality and character of St Francis Links. The shape of the greens comes from the natural movement of the land. The undulating greens have just been placed on top of the sand, changing shape in construction as the wind changed its mind. The layout combines every element of shot making with its undulating terrain, greens and surrounds as well as its variation in length and direction.
Settled near the slopes of the Silvermine Mountains and only 20 minutes from the city centre of cape Town lies one of Cape Town’s Premier Courses – Westlake. A par 72 – 18 hole course that is flat and easy to walk. The course opened in 1932 and providing you can hit the ball straight and keep it out of the trees you should be able to put together a good score. Fantastic views of the mountains throughout the 18 holes makes this a must play for golfers in the Cape Town area.
De Zalze Golf Course is another must play and you should allow time after the round to take in a little wine tasting because the course is set an a 300 hectare Wineland Estate.
This is a tight course that will require you to plan your way around it avoiding the many water hazards. The spectacular clubhouse offers breath taking views and superb breakfasts and lunches.
Erinvale golf course was designed by Gary Player and it blessed with majestic mountain backdrops with spectacular views of the surrounding hillsides that are planted with vine. From the higher parts of the course there are some dramatic ocean views. The course has hosted both the World Cup Golf and the SAA Open which tells you the quality of the course.
We recommend carts for this course because there are some undulating hills especially on the back nine.
Situated in the hills behind Knysna the Simola golf course offers spectacular views of the Outeniqua Mountains and Knysna lagoon. A Jack Nicklaus Signature course set below the high ridges, it’s free from the wind that so often plagues coastal courses. The flowing fairways have natural undulating contours ensuring that the course fits in with the spectacular scenery.
The 10th hole is one that you will remember with the tee set 200m high. A stunning golf course that will suit all handicaps.
