Bonalba Golf, Mutxamel, Alicante is a Par 72 measuring 6367m. It is located in the Bonalba mountains overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Playa de San Juan and just 10 minutes’ drive from Alicante city centre. The course was designed by Ramon Espinosa and was opened in 1993. It has wide fairways lined with a variety of trees like palms and pines.
Ramon has included some very strategically placed lakes and bunkers that will challenge many shots into the greens. The greens themselves are quite large and undulated so make sure the approach shots get as close to the pins as possible to avoid the three put.
Alenda Golf is a Par 72 course measuring 5901m, located at the foot of the Sierra de las Aguilas mountains in Montforte del Cid. The whole course is built into gentle terrain but whilst the front nine feature wide open fairways the back nine are much tighter and accuracy and good course management are key if you are to score well.
This course offers varied holes where you might have to use most of the clubs in your bag, but it is also suitable for players of all abilities.
Font Del Llop Golf Resort, Aspe, is a Par 72 measuring 6313m. It is located close to the town of Monforte del Cid near Alicante and is one of the newest courses in the area. The golf course is American designed but with a Scottish layout and uses the hills and valleys to create a superb challenge of golf.
The course features a small stream running through it, which connects all five of the lakes, this as well as the deep gorges means good course management is required if you are to have a good round. This course offers fantastic views and an enjoyable, technical game of golf, that requires you to use all of your clubs.
Alicante course is a Par 72 measuring 6236m, designed by Seve Ballesteros. There are 6 Par 3s, 6 Par 4s and 6 Par 5s, and there are no two consecutive holes with the same par, making this one of the more interesting courses on the Iberian Peninsula.
The course is built around 5 large lakes and wide generous fairways, but with fast undulating greens this is a challenge for all players. Just near the 15th green, look for the ruins of a Roman Villa, which dates from the 2nd century.
Villaitana Poniente is a Par 62 golf course measuring 3674m, set in the hills overlooking the very popular holiday resort of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca. Villaitana is situated 60 km north of Alicante and is 35 Minutes from Alicante Airport. It sits at the side of the Villaitana Levente Championship course. It is made up of 10 par 3s and 8 par 4s but do not let this put you off, it is a great test of golf with some wonderful golf holes.
The course is cut into the mountainside and buggies are mandatory and included in the green fee price. This course will put your iron play and short game to the test. You will also have uninterrupted views over the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra de Finestrat from the high points of the course making it a great golfing experience.
The Villaitana Levante is a Par 72 Championship course measuring 6612m, set in the hills overlooking the very popular holiday resort of Benidorm on the Costa Blanca. Villaitana is situated 60 km north of Alicante and is 35 Minutes from Alicante Airport. The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 2005, it has quite narrow fairways and as you would expect from Jack Nicklaus many strategically placed bunkers.
The greens are well protected but receptive. One of the highlights of playing this course is that wherever you are on the course you have uninterrupted views over the Mediterranean Sea and the Sierra de Finestrat.
