Guadalmina South is a Par 72 measuring 6037m. This is one of the oldest courses on the Costa del Sol and is a real test of accuracy with its long narrow fairways and small greens. It is laid out on much flatter terrain than the North and winds its way through pine and jacaranda trees. The 11th hole is perhaps one of the finest Par 3’s on the Costa del Sol, running along the beachfront, with a large bunker being all that separates the tee from a fantastically contoured and elevated green.
The 14th can challenge even the lowest handicappers as tall pines line the hole, with a strategically placed bunker in front of the green, waiting to swallow up anything short.
Guadalmina North is a Par 72 measuring 5660m. It is shorter and hillier than the South, but it features more water hazards and trees to make up for it. Although the fairways are wide, a straight drive up the middle is still required as there are numerous water hazards hidden in the rough.
The most notable feature is the Guadalmina River, which winds its way through the course. This is a great resort course that is suitable for all levels of players.
Santa Clara is a Par 71 measuring 5940m, and is located in Marbella, 40 minutes from Malaga Airport. It offers a beautiful setting featuring panoramic views of the Mediterranean and surrounding mountains and it has been designed to keep the fantastic landscape as natural as possible. It has wide fairways and there isn’t a great deal of rough, but the Par 3s are very long and there are several challenging tee shots across water hazards. With strategically placed bunkers and tough undulating greens this is a testing course that you will want to come back and play again.
The Atalaya Old Course is a Championship Par 72 measuring 6146m, designed byBernard Von Limburger. This tree lined parkland course enjoys wide fairways, fast elevated greens, several water hazards and spectacular views across La Concha mountain.
With its versatile tees this is an enjoyable and achievable round for all handicaps. You certainly won’t be disappointed when you play a round on the Atalaya Old Course as part of you golf holiday to Spain.
Valle Romano is a Par 72 measuring 6371m, is located in Estepona on the Costa del Sol. The location is fantastic with views out to the Mediterranean Sea from every hole on the course as well as the impressive modern clubhouse. The course enjoys wide fairways and spacious large greens with gentle slopes allowing for many different pin positions from quite easy to the almost impossible to attack. Beware of the many very large bunkers that are dotted throughout this course, they are there to collect any wayward shot. Hole 12 in particular requires careful shot placement due to the well positioned lake behind the green. Golfers can enjoy some very pretty views when tackling this golf course and it really makes a fantastic addition to a golf holiday in the Costa del Sol.
